2018 Panini Georgia Bulldogs Update #50

I will collect any Herschel Walker card which I don't already have, but I tend to make those that don't have images uploaded onto the TCDB, a priority. This card is an exception. The image was uploaded to the TCDB website in January 2019, by another member. It is difficult to find, as it doesn't show up for sale very often.

The card is a 2018 Panini Georgia Bulldogs Update card of Walker. It is part of a three-card set, made to update a 2015 Panini Georgia Bulldogs set. Walker is #50 in the set. The other two cards are also Bulldogs running back legends. #51 is Nick Chubb and #52 is Sony Michel.

This card recently showed up on Ebay and was listed at a great price, so it now has a new home in the Herschel Hoard.

2023 Panini Playoff National Treasures Synced Signatures # SS-WS

A great looking dual autographed card of Herschel and Cowboys Hall of Famer, Emmitt Smith. This is a limited set which has only two different cards in the checklist. This one, and one of Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. This is card # 1 of 49. The serial number designation can be seen on the right of the card front.

2024 Leaf In The Game Used Gr8's Running Backs GUG-12

This is the first 2024 Herschel Walker card I've picked up. It is a multi-player, memorabilia card, featuring game used swatches from eight legendary running backs in NFL history. It is from the Leaf in the Game Used set, the subset is Gr8's (Greats) running backs.

Along with Walker, the other seven running backs shown on the card are: Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, LaDainian Tomlinson, Tony Dorsett, Thurman Thomas, Eddie George and Bronco Nagurski.

This card set is yet to be uploaded to the TCDB, at least on Herschel's page. His cards only go up to 2023 at this point. Uploading entire checklists is beyond my scope. I'll leave that to someone else, but as soon as it's there, I'll upload this card.  I'm guessing there are various numbered parallels in this set, as this card in numbered 10 of 35, which can be seen on lower right corner of the card front.

Clearing Out The Cache (More 2023 Panini)

I'm showing five more different, yet similar looking, 2023 Panini Draft Picks cards, featuring Herschel Walker.

            1. 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Green:

          2. 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Mojo:

          3. 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Red Flash:

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Ruby Wave:

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks Purple Wave:

So ends another grouping of #43 Walker cards. Believe it or not, there are more to collect, but these five were a nice addition to the Hoard.

2022 Leaf In The Game Used Sports-Big Ticket Signatures#BTS-HW1

I thought this was a pretty cool card. This card is from the 2022 Leaf in the Game Used Sports- Big Ticket Signatures set. It is a 20-card set of autographed cards, featuring a ticket from a game in which a famous athlete participated in during their career.

In this case, it's a ticket from a USFL football game, played on Sunday, May 6, 1984, between the Oklahoma Outlaws and Herschel Walker's New Jersey Generals. The game was a blowout, with the Generals winning, 49-17. Walker rushed for 127 yards on 16 carries and had three touchdowns. One of his scores came on a 62-yard run. The score was so lopsided that Herschel sat out the entire fourth quarter.

I like the concept of this card. Nice to see some different ideas from the card companies.

It's been quiet here at the Hoard. This is my first post in over a month. It has been really hard to find new product that doesn't have that "every card is damn near the same" feel. Also, the older cards I'm looking for are showing up less and less. My top ten list has been dormant for a long time. In that vein, next week will be another "clean out the cache of Panini examples."

The goal as always, is to collect as many different Walker cards as I can, but Panini Draft Picks don't always rate an individual post. The current total count in the Hoard is 1, 023.

Odds and Ends

Shown are four cards in the Herschel Hoard, which I've obtained over the past few months, but have not posted about. One is a relatively scarce, 2022 Panini Mosiac Red Wave, shown here:

The Red Wave card is serial numbered to just 9. This example is #6, which can be seen in the upper left on the card back. If the image appears a bit washed out, it's because this is an encased, graded card. I don't usually buy these, but in this instance, it was the only condition I was able to find it in. The image is cropped to show just the card itself, rather than the case.

The next three are all versions of the 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks set. Though I try to collect any Herschel Walker cards which I don't already have, the variations in some of Panini's sets are so slight, that it seems almost redundant when posting them individually. That being the case, I've grouped the three here. First is a Draft Picks Red:

The Red version is serial numbered to 200, shown on the bottom of the card back.

Next is the Purple Ice version:

           These are numbered to 149.

Finally, here is the Purple Prism card, which is numbered to 75:

Many people complain about Panini and the fact that they have so many variations, but although they're not my absolute favorite cards to chase, I will pick them up if I have the opportunity.

2007 Press Pass Legends-Legendary Legacy Autographs Platinum #LL-HW

Continuing my recent run of autographed Herschel Walker cards, here is a 2007 Legendary Legacy Platinum card, from the Press Pass Legends series.

The Platinum subset has a checklist of 29 cards and each one is serial numbered to just 25. That serial number is boldly shown on the bottom of the card back. Another empty space filled in at the Herschel Hoard.

2022 Panini Prizm Sensational Signatures Green Scope # SS-HW

I've been on a roll lately, regarding autographed cards of Herschel to add to the Hoard. I already have another one lined up to talk about next week, but before I get ahead of myself, this is a 2022 Panini Prizm Sensational Signatures card, in the Green Scope edition.

I posted a previous version of the card from the Sensational Signatures set. That one was serial numbered to 50, the Green Scope is serial numbered to 25. There are at least five more versions out there, numbered at 35, 15, 10, 5 and 1. The serial number can be seen on the card back at the bottom of the photograph.

This Green Scope edition has a 60-card checklist. Another sharp looking card of Walker during his Dallas days makes its way into the Herschel Hoard.

2004 Playoff Prime Signatures-Signatures Proof Gold #29

This is another autographed card of Herschel, which has eluded me for some time. Shown is a 2004 Playoff Signatures-Signatures Proof Gold card. It's not a ridiculously low serial numbered card (runs to 34, with this being 15) but I haven't seen it pop up until recently. The checklist is for 100 cards. There is a Silver and Bronze version, both of which are in the Hoard. The above shown, Gold version, as well as the Silver, have checklists of 100 cards, while the Bronze, oddly enough, has just 97.

2006 Press Pass Legends Alumni Association Autographs Fran Tarkenton/Herschel Walker

This autographed card features two Georgia Bulldog legends, in Fran Tarkenton and Herschel Walker. The checklist has only nine cards, each featuring two of the best players in a particular school's history.

The Tarkenton/Walker card is serial numbered to 50, with this example being #33, as seen on the card back.

2013 SPx Winning Big Materials Patch #WB-HW

I was able to locate a patch card of Herschel, which I'd been seeking for a long time. This is a 2013 SPx brand, Winning Big Materials Patch card, which has a very low run of 10. There is a total of 40 cards in the checklist for this set.

2018 Panini Immaculate Collection Collegiate Gold #19

I found a low serial # example of a 2018 Panini Immaculate Collection Collegiate Gold card, featuring Herschel Walker. The Gold parallels in this set are numbered to just five. The serial number is shown on the right side of the card front, next to Walker's elbow.

2006 Ultra Campus Classics Autographs #CCHW

I was able to pick up another autographed card of Herschel, which fills a long empty space in his TCDB page. This is a 2006 Ultra Campus Classic autographed card of Walker, which is serial numbered to just 25. This card is #19 in the run. The plain version of this card (unsigned) has been in the Hoard for a long time, but I was never able to find the official autographed card, until now.

2023 Panini Select Draft Picks Snapshots Tie-Dye Prism #SN-14

Many Panini cards have a very similar look as far as the parallels go. Often, just a slight color variation to differentiate between the cards. I have to say though, that this Tie-Dye Prism card of Herschel, from the 2023 Panini Select Draft Picks Snapshots line, has a very cool look to it and really stands out.

It's a relatively low numbered series, running to just 25, with this example being # 3.

2022 Panini Impeccable -Silver U.S.A Flag #USA-HWA

Today is my birthday and I decided to buy myself a present. This is a 2022 Panini Impeccable Silver USA Flag card, depicting Herschel Walker.

Each card in the 30-card set, includes a one troy ounce bar of .999 fine silver, which depicts the American Flag. As my birthday is one day before Independence Day, I thought it would make a nice addition to the Hoard.

The cards are serial numbered to 20. This card is #18 and can be seen on the card front, just above Herschel Walker's name.

This is also one of the thickest cards I own. It's nearly a quarter of an inch thick.

2022 Leaf In The Game Used Red Autograph #GUA-HW1

There are several different versions to choose from in 2022 and 2023 sets, featuring Herschel Walker. This is my first one from the 2022 Leaf In The Game Used set. This is the Red parallel, which is serial numbered to 45. Whoever uploaded the checklist to the TCDB didn't include the serial numbers, so at this point, I don't know which cards are limited to which card amount.

From what I can see, there is a Black, Bronze, Emerald, Gold, Pattern Silver, Platinum Blue, Purple and Silver, in addition to the Red, shown above.

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks-Prizm Gold Shimmer #43

This is my first "Shimmer" card, in one of the many varieties of the 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks line. This is the Gold version, which is serial numbered to 15.

1995 Collector's Edge Black Label Die Cuts #147 (Another Top Ten Most Wanted Card Crossed Off My List)

This is the second card in my Top Ten Most Wanted cards that I've nabbed in a week. As discussed in my previous post, I was able to pick up a 1996 Pacific Silver card of Herschel, which had been on my radar for a long time. Shortly thereafter, the above card popped up on Ebay.

It is a 1995 Collector's Edge Black Label Die Cuts #147 of Walker. I put together all the other versions of card #147, in this set, featuring Herschel Walker (there are about 10 variations). I had the regular Black Label edition and the regular die cut version, but until now, was never able to locate the Black Label Die Cuts.

It gets frustrating sometimes to locate a particular example of a card you are looking for, only for it to be of another player. When the card you're after finally does show up, it is a great feeling. The chase really is the fun of it.

I will be hard pressed to duplicate this run of good fortune, but the fact that it did happen, inspires me to keep adding to the Herschel Hoard.
