2006 Ultra Campus Classics Autographs #CCHW

I was able to pick up another autographed card of Herschel, which fills a long empty space in his TCDB page. This is a 2006 Ultra Campus Classic autographed card of Walker, which is serial numbered to just 25. This card is #19 in the run. The plain version of this card (unsigned) has been in the Hoard for a long time, but I was never able to find the official autographed card, until now.

2023 Panini Select Draft Picks Snapshots Tie-Dye Prism #SN-14

Many Panini cards have a very similar look as far as the parallels go. Often, just a slight color variation to differentiate between the cards. I have to say though, that this Tie-Dye Prism card of Herschel, from the 2023 Panini Select Draft Picks Snapshots line, has a very cool look to it and really stands out.

It's a relatively low numbered series, running to just 25, with this example being # 3.

2022 Panini Impeccable -Silver U.S.A Flag #USA-HWA

Today is my birthday and I decided to buy myself a present. This is a 2022 Panini Impeccable Silver USA Flag card, depicting Herschel Walker.

Each card in the 30-card set, includes a one troy ounce bar of .999 fine silver, which depicts the American Flag. As my birthday is one day before Independence Day, I thought it would make a nice addition to the Hoard.

The cards are serial numbered to 20. This card is #18 and can be seen on the card front, just above Herschel Walker's name.

This is also one of the thickest cards I own. It's nearly a quarter of an inch thick.

2022 Leaf In The Game Used Red Autograph #GUA-HW1

There are several different versions to choose from in 2022 and 2023 sets, featuring Herschel Walker. This is my first one from the 2022 Leaf In The Game Used set. This is the Red parallel, which is serial numbered to 45. Whoever uploaded the checklist to the TCDB didn't include the serial numbers, so at this point, I don't know which cards are limited to which card amount.

From what I can see, there is a Black, Bronze, Emerald, Gold, Pattern Silver, Platinum Blue, Purple and Silver, in addition to the Red, shown above.

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks-Prizm Gold Shimmer #43

This is my first "Shimmer" card, in one of the many varieties of the 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks line. This is the Gold version, which is serial numbered to 15.

1995 Collector's Edge Black Label Die Cuts #147 (Another Top Ten Most Wanted Card Crossed Off My List)

This is the second card in my Top Ten Most Wanted cards that I've nabbed in a week. As discussed in my previous post, I was able to pick up a 1996 Pacific Silver card of Herschel, which had been on my radar for a long time. Shortly thereafter, the above card popped up on Ebay.

It is a 1995 Collector's Edge Black Label Die Cuts #147 of Walker. I put together all the other versions of card #147, in this set, featuring Herschel Walker (there are about 10 variations). I had the regular Black Label edition and the regular die cut version, but until now, was never able to locate the Black Label Die Cuts.

It gets frustrating sometimes to locate a particular example of a card you are looking for, only for it to be of another player. When the card you're after finally does show up, it is a great feeling. The chase really is the fun of it.

I will be hard pressed to duplicate this run of good fortune, but the fact that it did happen, inspires me to keep adding to the Herschel Hoard.

Card #1,000. 1996 Pacific Silver #298 (Maybe I Should Buy a Lotto Ticket)

What a week this has been. In my last post, I mentioned that I was one card away from hitting the milestone of one thousand different Herschel Walker cards for my collection, lovingly known as the Herschel Hoard.

I had decided that not just any run of the mill card would do, but that it needed to be special. It would have to be one of my top ten, most wanted cards. I stated that there may not be any new posts on here for a long time, because I was going to wait until the right card came along.

Above is that card, amazingly, found in less than a week. It is a 1996 Pacific Silver #298 card, featuring Herschel Walker. There are four versions of this card in the set. Each color version has 450 cards in the set. The first is what I call the Copper. It's not officially named that, but the color at the bottom of the card front looks copperish to me and that is the only thing which differentiates each set. Second is the Blue, which according to the TCDB, were inserted 9:37 in Hobby packs. Third, is the Red, which were inserted 9:37 in Retail packs. Fourth, the Silver, about which is said, "Inserted in special Retail packs." There is no mention of the ratio, but I would assume it is quite small. The space for this Silver version had been blank at the TCDB, for as long as I've been collecting Walker cards and I started seriously in the mid 1990's.

I don't know if it's fate, karma, luck or whatever, but just a couple days after my last post, I clicked on EBay and there it was: 1996 Pacific Silver #298! I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. I've been burned before, thinking I had found a rare card, but after getting it home, realizing I had been too hasty, and it was not the exact card I was looking for. I perused the item description and saw the menacing words, "only one left." The price was more than reasonable, and I had to have it. A quick click and the words, "Your purchase is complete.", filled me with joy. It ticked every box. A top ten most wanted card for the Hoard; the one thousandth different card collected; a card from Walker's active playing days.

Incredibly, that's not all. Right after I purchased this card, I clicked on the, return to search, button. After scrolling down a bit, I came across a SECOND TOP TEN MOST WANTED card! Needless to say, a second purchase was quickly made. I'd felt as if I'd hit the Comstock Lode. That card will be featured in my next post. All in all, an incredible week of collecting.

2006 Upper Deck Legends-Signature Generations #SG-WPW Card#999

A terrific, multi-player autographed card, featuring Herschel Walker, Willie Parker and DeAngelo Williams; makes the cut as card #999 in the Hoard.

This is a tough to find, 2006 Upper Deck Legends-Signature Generations card. These are serial numbered to just five. This example is #1. The serial number is almost impossible to see in this scan, however, it is located on the card front, inside the football at the bottom.

I have decided that, since I want card #1,000 to be special, I will not post anymore Herschel cards to the Hoard, until I can acquire one of my top ten most wanted.  This may take a few days, or it might take years, one just doesn't know.

So, the Herschel Hoard will be on a self-induced hiatus. There are still plenty of Herschel cards out there I can collect, such as the never ending, Panini parallels and I won't go on record as saying I won't pick some up. However, those won't be shown here as card #1,000.

Wish me luck and happy collecting to all!

Card #998 2022 Panini Impeccable Masterstrokes #MS-HWA

As I close in on 1,000 different Herschel Walker cards in the Herschel Hoard, I'll show off this terrific looking autographed card from the 2022 Panini Impeccable Masterstrokes line. A pretty cool looking card, with a kind of impressionist art design. These are serial numbered to 25, with this example being #14.

Countdown To One Thousand

I'm rapidly approaching one thousand different Herschel Walker cards in the Herschel Hoard.

     Here are cards 991-997:

2022 PANINI CLASSICS PREMIUM TIMELESS TRIBUTES ORANGE #119

These cards are serial numbered to just 10, this example is #6.

          2022 PANINI MOSIAC PEACOCK #236

The Peacocks are a tough card to find.

          2023 PANINI IMMACULATE RUBY #18

These cards are serial numbered to 75. This example is #41.

2023 PANINI LEGACY LEGENDS BLUE #118.

This is #50 out of 50 on this Blue Legends card of Walker.

2023 PANINI PRIZM DRAFT PICKS BLUE WAVE #43

These are serial numbered to 249, this is 209.

2023 PANINI PRIZM BRILLANCE GOLD #BR-14.

The serial number is tough to see on these. It is on the left side of the card back, just above Herschel. These are numbered to 10, with this example being #5.

2018 Panini Flawless #76 Completed Run

I just picked up a 2018 Panini Flawless #76 card of Herschel Walker, in the Emerald parallel. This card is one I've been seeking for a long time, and now that I have it, it completes my seven card run of Walker cards from this set.

Here are the individual cards in descending order of serial number:

2018 Panini Flawless Base #76, numbered to 20.

The reverse is the same on all the cards, so I'll just show it once.

2018 Panini Flawless Sapphire #76, numbered to 15.

2018 Panini Flawless Diamond #76, numbered to 10.

2018 Panini Flawless Emerald #76, numbered to 5.  This is the one that I have been trying to track down for a long time. Finally got one!

2018 Panini Flawless Chocolate Diamond #76, numbered to 4.

2018 Panini Flawless Canary Yellow Diamond #76, numbered to 3.

2018 Panini Flawless Platinum #76, numbered to one.     I've always liked the Flawless set. I have a few of Walker's cards in the collegiate edition, however, this Dallas uniform looks better on these cards, in my opinion.
