2018 Panini National Treasures Collegiate Silhouettes #SIL-HW

This is Herschel's entry in the 2018 Panini National Treasures Collegiate Silhouettes set.  The cards feature a patch of game used material and in Walker's case, are serial numbered to 34, his jersey number. This particular card is # 6.

There is also a Silhouettes Signature autographed version(described in a prior post) and  a Prime Signatures edition, which is serial numbered to just 5.

1993 Topps Black Gold Redemption Cards

Topps had an special set among their 1993 football cards, which was known as Topps Black Gold.  The set featured some of the popular players of the time, and was broken down into groups, A, B,C D, then AB, CD, and ABCD.

There were two versions.  One featured multiple players from each set as a collectible card, and the other also featured multiple images, but had a space on the back for your name and address, where you could send in into Topps and receive all the single players from that particular Black Gold set.

Herschel Walker was in the D, CD, and ABCD groups.  Shown below is the CD non redeemable version:

You'll see that Herschel is the last player shown on the front of the card, and is last to be named on the back.

Interestingly, the AB card is an UER, or uncorrected error card.  That is because Walker is not shown on that card, yet his name is on the back, under #17.  The player that should have been named is Ricky Watters, who also played for the Philadelphia Eagles at that time.
Here is that card:

I'm glad to add these cards to the Herschel Hoard, and someday hope to add the D and ABCD card as well.

1997 Destiny Telecom Pro Football Elite Series Men of Destiny # 28

This phone card series from 1997 is a set I was unfamiliar with.  Someone put up an empty space for it on Herschel's page at the Trading Card Data Base, so I began hunting for it.  One popped up on EBay, and I nabbed it.

It was a prepaid phone card set of 100 NFL players, and was licensed by the NFL Players association.  This set has a run of 4000 and there is also a gold set, which has a run of 1,000.

The front image of Walker in a Giants uniform, albeit with a blacked out helmet, is the same one as shown in the 1996 Sportscall phone card.  That card is already in the Hoard and I'm pleased to have this one join it.
