2022 Panini Legendary Contenders 3 More Parallels Added To The Hoard

I was able to add three more parallels from the 2022 Panini Legendary Contenders set to the Herschel Hoard.

     First, the Emerald:

This card is not serial numbered and is very easy to obtain. I just hadn't gotten around to getting one until now.

          Next, is the Silver:

The Silver is numbered to 99. This example is 27, seen on the left side of card front.

          Finally, we have Gold:

These are numbered to 23. This card is #10.

I also have the Platinum version, which I posted earlier separately. Those are numbered to 10.

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks #43 Blue Ice/Gold Ice/Red Ice

Here is a run of three cards I recently got, in the 2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks line. They are the Blue Ice, Gold Ice and Red Ice version.  Only the Blue is serial numbered. They run to 99.

2006 Press Pass Legends Emerald #E62

Lately, most of the cards I've picked up for the Herschel Hoard, have been very recent. Say from, 2022 on. In this case, I was able to go back in time a little bit and grab this example of a, 2006 Press Pass Legends Emerald #E62 card of Walker.

This Emerald version had been a blank space in my collection for a long time.  I have the base card, as well as the Bronze, Gold and Autographed versions, but the Emerald, which is serial numbered to 25, had eluded me up until now.

Also in this run, is a Platinum One of One, along with the usual four Printing Plates, all of which are unique.

2018 Panini National Treasures Collegiate Yellow Printing Plate #13

I was able to nab another, one of one, printing plate of Herschel, for the Hoard.  This is the Yellow plate, from the 2018 National Treasures Collegiate set #13.  There are two different poses of Walker in this run. #13 cards feature him in a more straight ahead running pose, while the #33 cards picture him in more of a side view.

Obtaining this card give me a full, four card run of Printing Plates in the #13 run. Black, Magenta, Cyan and now, Yellow.

The funny thing about this purchase, is that the seller was advertising it as a Black Printing Plate. I already had the other three in my collection, so I figured that he just didn't know what he had. This is the first time I've ever been able to get all four plates which are avaliable.

As far as the #33 plates, I have the Black and Yellow, but lack the Cyan and Magenta.

In descending order of serial number; here are the Red-75, Purple-50, Green-25 and Orange-10:

          The color wheel is growing!

2022 Panini Classics Stars/Premium Edition Timeless Tributes Stars #119

Shown are two of Herschel Walker's, 2022 "Stars" line issued by Panini Classics Football. I'll show the front of each card together, then the backs.  Here is the regular card:

       Note the stars around the border, which gives the card its name.  Next, here is the front of the Premium Edition Timeless Tributes Stars card;

Again, we see the border of stars, but the middle of the image is darker and has the "Timeless Tributes" running across it.

Next, the reverse side of the regular Stars card:

And finally, the reverse of the Premium Edition Timeless Tributes Stars card:

You'll notice that the Premium cards are serial numbered to 6. This example is #2, which can be seen right under the Cowboys star logo, on the card back.

2022 Panini Classics Transitions Red #T-12

I finally nabbed the Red Parallel of Herschel in the Panini Transitions line.  Some time ago, I had posted that I had every card in the run, except for the Red and the Black, which is a 1 of 1.

Here is the Red, which is serial numbered to 50, this particular card is #32, shown on the card back.

At one time, I actually had a chance to purchase the Black card, as it was on EBay, but it was graded and encased, which meant I would have to crack the case in order to scan it to the TCDB. I have done this with Walker cards before, as I collect only for the pleasure of it and not for resale. I own some graded cards, but am not a huge fan of the practice.  In any case, I didn't pull the trigger on it.

2023 Panini Legacy #118 Red/Orange/Green

A couple weeks ago, I posted the 2023 Panini Legacy base card of Herschel and also the Yellow version.  I have added three more parallels to the Hoard.

First, the Red, which is serial numbered to 299:

Second is the Orange, which is serial numbered to 199:

Finally, the Green, which is serial numbered to 100:

Remaining would be the Blue, at 50 examples; the Indigo, at 25; the Violet, at 10 and the Black, which is a 1 of 1.  I'll keep an eye open.

2022 Panini Contenders Gladiators #GLD-HWA Gold/Silver Parallels

Here is the Gold parallel card of Herschel Walker in the Gladiators set. These are serial numbered to 25, with this being #12. The serial number can be seen on the right of the card front.

I also picked up the Silver parallel:

The Silver's are numbered to 99. This example is #35.

My Latest Three Additions to the Herschel Hoard

Here are the three newest cards I've added to the Hoard:

2023 Panini Prizm Draft Picks  Brilliance BR-14

There are several parallels to collect from this set, at least seven, in the Brilliance line alone.

Next is the 2023 Panini Select Draft Picks  Select Snapshot SN-14:

Thus far, the TCDB lists four parallels of this set, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are more and just haven't been added yet.

Finally, I have the 2023 Panini Immaculate Gold #18:

Panini has not changed the look of their Immaculate cards for several years.  This is the only card of the three shown today, which is serial numbered.  The Gold is #'d to 10, with this example being #7.

Obviously, these are collegiate cards, with Walker shown in his Georgia Bulldogs uniform. Some may wonder why a guy who hasn't played college football since the 1980's is in a Draft Picks set. The reason is because Panini always includes some former College legends along with that year's current scholastic players.

1992 Topps and Topps Gold #188 Asterisk Variations

On both 1992 Topps and Topps Gold football cards, there are several variations on the back of the card, where the copyright line appears.

Here is the front and back of Herschel Walker's Gold card:

If you look on the bottom left of the card back, you'll notice a capital letter, C, right under the Topps logo.

          Here it is blown up:

However, there is another variation in which there is an asterisk to the right of the C.  See below:

Apparently, the cards in these sets can either be A, B, C, D, E or A*, B*, C* D* or E*.  Herschel's cards only have the C and C* varieties.

I've tried to find out why they were produced this way, to no avail.  Probably something to do with production runs.

As any single player collector knows, you'll never have every card produced for a particular athlete, the One of one cards alone, dictate that. However, these are inexpensive cards and once I became aware of the variation (thanks, as always, TCDB).  I quickly picked up the version I didn't already have in the Hoard. (I already had the asterisk version).
